The Client;
Mrs. Pamela Price.
The Property;
Willow Cottage, Ashmoor Drove, Wookey, Wells (Domestic).
The Project Included;
Pay Back Period;
4-5 years (combining RHI income & fuel cost saving).
RHI Payments;
A project of this size would gain approximately £3,000 per annum for 7 years.
Project Background;
Mrs. Price's lives in a 4 bedroom, 148m2 stone-built cottage with her family, situated on Ashmore Drove, near Wells, in the Somerset countryside.
The Requirement;
Mrs. Price required a full overhaul of her property's heating and water system, replacing her inefficient oil cooker and solar hot water equipment with cost effective and renewable biomass and solar thermal solutions.
Project Summary
Our team of highly skilled staff designed and installed a complete turnkey solution for the property.
A brand new ETA PU15 (4.4 to 14.9kW) Wood Pellet Boiler System was installed within Mrs. Price living room in a 1200mm x 700mm space and finished with a dark leather cover to fit in with the room's decor. The system has a built in bulk loading vacuum system and weatherproof 240kG external wood pellet hopper.
The Boiler itself features automatic cleaning,weather compensation, full colour touch screen display and intelligent hot water cylinder charging.
A top the cottage's roof a 30 x 58mm tube Navitron Solar Thermal Vacuum tube set was installed to complement the wood pellet boiler and reduce its running during the summer months.
For a project of this size Mrs Price's system is capable of running at 90% efficiency and just a short time after installation the system dramatically reducing the CO2 emissions produced in comparison to Oil system previously installed.
The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)
Both the ETA PU15 Wood Pellet Boiler System and Navitron Solar Thermal Vacuum are RHI compliant and Mrs Price's heating system upgrades have gained accreditation into the 7 year Domestic RHI scheme.
This will enable her to receive RHI payments of 12.2p per kWh of heat generated by the Wood Pellet Boiler and a further 19.2p per kWh generated by the Solar Thermal system.
These statistics and the subsequent payments are made based on estimated (deemed) heat demand of the property.
In order to be eligible for the Domestic RHI, a Green Deal Assessment must be carried out on the property alongside a domestic Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), analysing energy requirements.
The RHI payments and the fuel cost saving will substantially reduce operating and fuel costs as well as generating additional income in the region of £10,000 of profit over the full 7 year period.
