Winter is coming! Our Top 10 Tips for staying warm through the cold nights.

A beautiful summer and balmy autumn are about to give way to the sudden appearance of winter. It will come to us all as a bit of a shock as we scramble through the back of our cupboards for woolly hats, scarves and blankets.

Here at Blake Ecotec we pride ourselves on being The Renewable Heat Experts and have put together our Top 10 Tips for keeping warm this winter while also keeping the heating bills down.

1. Keep the rooms you use between a temperature of 18°C and 21°C, any colder is bad for your health.
2. Get your boiler serviced every year to make sure it's running as efficiently as possible.
3. Use heavy curtains. Keep them open during the day to get the sun in, and draw them in at night to keep the cold out.
4. Close windows and doors to keep the heat in the rooms you are in.
5. Wear several thin layers, rather than one thick layer. This traps warm air close to the body. Woolly socks and hats will also keep you toasty.
6. Drink lots of hot liquids. A steaming mug of hot chocolate or a tasty bowl of soup will provide extra warmth and energy.
7. If you're sitting down for a night in front of the TV, a blanket will help keep you warm.
8. Make sure you put your feet up! The coldest air in any room is around the floor.
9. Turn your radiator on to warm your bedroom before you go to sleep at night.
10. Finally, use a high tog duvet in winter to snuggle up in bed.
