Biomass Heating Solar Heat Pumps

Solar Photovoltaic (PV)

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) solutions convert sunlight into electricity. The panels are roof mounted and do not necessarily require direct sunlight, meaning they can generate electricity even on cloudy days.

How it works:

  • The PV cell* consists of two layers of a semi conducting silicon.
  • When light shines on the cell it creates an electric field across the layers causing electricity to flow. The greater the intensity of light, the greater the flow of electricity.
  • The modules gather solar energy from the sun and convert it into Direct Current (DC) electricity.
  • An inverter converts this DC power into Alternating Current (AC) which can be used to power your home or business.

*PV cells are measured in kilowatt peak (kWp), the rate at which it generates energy at peak performance.

The Benefits:

  • Significantly reduce electricity bills.
  • Get paid for producing solar electricity through the government's Feed in Tariffs.
  • Sell back any surplus energy produced to the National Grid.

How much could you earn?

The Solar Feed in Tariff.
Under the Feed in Tariffs the Government guarantee to pay a premium amount for the electicity generated by a PV solution, any surplus energy generated can be sold back to the National Grid.

An average 4kWp PV system can produce as much as £525 in income from the Feed in Tariffs and a further £264 in savings from free electricity**

**Statistics Correct as of April 1st 2015.
Based upon Feed in Tariffs of 13.39p per kWp, electricity costs of 15p per kWp and all of the electricity being used on-site.
If electricity is sold back to the National Grid/Energy Company, it will generate 4.85p per kWp on top of the Feed in Tariff.
